Simon Curtis: As Indie As It Gets.

Another thing about the record is that even though it’s technically a mainstream pop record, it’s as indie as it gets.

It was literally two people making this album on our own in a basement in West Virginia.

It’s funny that some people won’t even look at it as indie music just because of the sound quality and because of what the music itself sounds like.

I’ve encountered that.

On the other hand, I’ve been very fortunate in that several of the bigger indie music blogs have really attached themselves to it, and people who do like independent music have found it.

That does make me happy, because it really honestly is a truly independent record.

I’ve blogged, and tweeted quite a bit, since @kyleankney first introduced me to it, about just how much I love 8bit Heart, Superhero & Superhero (The Remix) and about how good I think they all are.

Not because I’m on commission or anything, lol, but because I just want you all to just go take a listen to them for yourselves and hopefully you’ll fall in love with Simon’s awesome music as much as his Robot Army of fans, already have!

Superhero is the first single to be taken from his upcoming second album, R∆, and was released on iTunes worldwide on Monday 16th May, 2011.

Curtis may be coming out of his shell and more comfortable with life’s complexities, as this album is drawing straight from experience.

With raw lyrics such as “put my hands above your head and push your face into the bed cause i’m a screamer baby make me a mute,” (“Flesh”) he’s definitely embracing a bit of a darker side.

What should we expect?

“I’ve been telling everyone it’s a darker N’SYNC of sorts, I’m a big fan of Swedish pop and dance pop.”

Receiving luke warm reviews from fans regarding his recent single debut “Superhero,” not sure of the sound (“they either love it or they hate it”) but I can attest it’s a massive pop single with a catchy chorus, that reminds me of a cross between Janet Jackson (“Trust A Try“), Jim Verraros (“So Deep“) and Adam Lambert (“Fever“)

I’m firmly in the love it camp! :D

Anyway, take a listen to it at Just Jared and then, if you like it, please don’t download it illegally, buy a copy on iTunes.

Thanks for reading.
